MONTPELIER — A bill anticipated in the next legislative session could bring a ranked choice voting system to Vermont for the 2028 presidential primary.
“We’re contemplating this for the way that Vermont would award our delegates that go to the Democratic Convention and the Republican Convention,” Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas said at an informational meeting held remotely Wednesday night and hosted by the League of Women Voters of Vermont.
”A new and powerful way of choosing our leaders
Copeland Hanzas said the change would need to be approved by the Vermont House of Representatives and Senate as well as the governor. She’s been advocating that Vermont consider the voting method, which league President Sue Racanelli called “a new and powerful way of choosing our leaders.”
